Steady Trout Bite and Redfish Action Heating Up in the Bays
Matagorda Bay - Matagorda, TX
Fishing in Port O'Connor has been consistent, with solid opportunities for anglers targeting Speckled Trout and Redfish. Early mornings are producing limits of trout on shell reefs and drop-offs, especially when drifting with live shrimp under a popping cork. Soft plastics in natural colors are also getting bites, especially when the wind lays down.
Redfish are cruising the shorelines and back lakes, hitting gold spoons, cut mullet, and live finger mullet. Wade anglers are seeing success near grassy shorelines and guts on outgoing tides. Slot-sized reds have been active, and there’s been a few upper-slot fish landed over the past week.
Flounder are starting to show more around drains and sandy pockets, and a few solid fish have been picked up on Gulp baits and mud minnows. The weather has been stable, making conditions favorable for both boaters and wade fishermen. Overall, it's a great time to hit the water in Port O’Connor.
